- JP-4
- A type of fuel for gas turbine engines that is made up of 65% gasoline and 35% distillates. It is a wide-ranging AVTAG and is similar to and interchangeable with AVTUR but differs from it in storage stability. It is equivalent to commercial jet B fuel but poses a greater fire hazard and reduces pump life. Its flash point is about −37.2°C and its freezing point is −60°C. This fuel is primarily used by military aircraft. It contains a full additive package, including a corrosion inhibitor, an anti-icing chemical, and a static dissipater. See also AVTAG and AVTUR.
